We at OGI discovered a new glacier on South Sister! This glacier is new to humans, but has been around for at least centuries. It is on a photograph of South Sister taken in 1910 (see below). It resides in the cirque on the north side of the volcano, right where one would expect a glacier to be. But, the USGS and USFS never put it on a map. Today, the glacier's location is listed as bare ground! Just goes to show how little we truly know about our own backyards!
